More than 80% of facilities answer "no" to these questions when asked about their preparedness for water damage events. How would your facilities team respond?
- Do you have a written scope of work and response plan for how water events should be addressed?
- Do you have standardized water remediation equipment designed for this purpose?
- Do you know the size of leak or flood your organization can address internally?
- Have you created a first responder equipment kit for water events?
- Do you have a plan to stop the water source and remove as much water as possible in the first 100 minutes?
- Have your staff been trained to use a flood extractor and other water remediation equipment?
- Can your staff define what "dry" means and have a way to monitor when floors, walls, cabinets, etc. are actually dry?
To mitigate damage and recover as quickly as possible, it's crucial that facilities teams stop answering no to these seven water remediation gaps and start answering yes. All facilities professionals should have written standard operating procedures that can be easily referenced when leaks and floods happen.
